Skipton into Pendle The Three Peaks Opening Times
OTLEY | BURNSALL, St Wilfred
This sturdy dales church, approached via a unique lych-gate, was founded in the 12C by the Romilies of Skipton and, in 1612, was 'butified' by Sir William Craven, who also endowed the Grammar School next door. Two 'hogback' tombstones and various sculpture fragments date back to the Anglo-Saxons and Danes; the font is Norman. The 15C alabaster panel of the Adoration of the Magi was unearthed in the 19C restoration.
