Skipton into Pendle The Three Peaks Opening Times
OTLEY | BOLTON ABBEY, The Priory Church of St Mary and St Cuthbert
The hauntingly beautiful ruins of the 12th century Augustinian Priory stand above a wide curve of the River Wharfe. At the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539, the nave was left intact as a parish church of exceptional majesty and unforgettable atmosphere. The unfinished West Tower, now roofed in, forms a magnificent entrance; among many lovely features, the six windows by A W N Pugin are outstanding.
